G&D North America Inc., one of the world’s leading KVM manufacturers, presents their latest KVM trends 2020 for broadcast professionals. KVM systems play an essential role in broadcasting by forming the link between IT and broadcast structures and thereby offering operation across systems and independently from any platform.
One of G&D’s highlights for broadcast professionals is the ControlCenter-IP, a powerful matrix for KVM-over-IP™. The system offers G&D's customers ground-breaking new possibilities. By using standard network components, they are now able to scale their IT structures even more flexibly and easily. Almost all components are plug & play devices, making it even easier and more comfortable to install and operate the system.
Real 4K over IP
Using leading-edge technologies, the ControlCenter-IP extends real 4K signals over IP. The system ensures pixel perfect video transmission for DisplayPort 1.2 signals for resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. In addition to resolutions for DP 1.2, the company also offers modules for DVI single and dual link as well as DP 1.1 with support for all common resolutions. For this, G&D use their in-house compression method, which allows the loss-less transmission of video signals and delivers perfect images.
KVM matrix systems – powerful team players in broadcast applications
Whether classic or IP – all KVM systems from G&D are perfect team players and integrate fully into existing broadcast control and monitoring systems. They can also be ideally used in combination with SMPTE 2110 workflows. G&D’s user-oriented approach becomes especially apparent when taking a closer look at the many helpful operating functions such as CrossDisplay-Switching for absolutely intuitive operation at multi-monitor workstations, scripting and scenario switching, and the push-get function to share tasks between team members. The manufacturer also impresses with the broadest KVM portfolio on the market. Thanks to versatile KVM products that can be combined, the best possible solution considering the application, existing IT structures and the requirements of projects is always right on hand.
In addition to the already proven quality "made in Germany", G&D have now added new features for even greater system stability and ease of use, such as the MatrixGuard. Within a matrix grid, the MatixGuard function ensures that if the database master fails, one of the matrix slaves takes over the role of the master and the system continues to run automatically without interrupting the work of the control room staff.
RemoteAccess-CPU – the bridge between cloud computing and KVM
Increasing virtualization and hybrid infrastructures in broadcasting are currently two of the most important aspects in the industry. G&D is responding to these trends by offering a unique user interface for operating hybrid installations. The new RemoteAccess-CPU modules let customers seamlessly integrate virtual machines into KVM matrix installations.
In addition to access to physically existing computers, the new module also allows access to virtual machines – without the producer even realizing the difference: With a standardised overview, operators simply select the desired source, regardless of whether the computer is available in the server room or in the cloud.
High-end KVM extension with resolutions of 4K and 8K @ 60 Hz as well as 1080p @ 240 Hz
Another KVM superlative is the DP1.2-VisionXG – a KVM extension system to extend high-resolution 4K and 8K video signals at 60 Hz as well as 1080p @ 240 Hz – uncompressed and latency-free. The system transmits 8K resolutions up to 10,000 m via optical fibers.
