IBC, the annual broadcasting event that brings professionals in the media industry together has been running since 1967. Each year brings new excitement and innovation to the event held in Amsterdam.
Originally aimed at purely the technical broadcasting industry, IBC (International Broadcast Convention) aims to cater for a wider media spectrum involving creative management and delivery.
Originally debuting at the Lancaster Hotel in London with just 32 exhibitors and 500 business delegates, IBC has transformed into a worldwide event that attracts many famous names including Professor Brian Cox and modern Hip Hop star Will.i.am
Moving to its new location in Amsterdam since 1992, the show continues to deliver quality content, it is seen as being a number one influential event in digital cinema to supporting new changes in other digital communications media such as mobile television.
So for those of you who will be jetting off to Amsterdam this year, here are the top ten things to watch out for!

Grass Valley 4K Workflows
So the Belden Brand will be showcasing its fantastic range of broadcast solutions. The LDX 86 Universe switchable camera, along with the K2 Dyno Universe Replay System. Allowing any camera or replay position to be set up for regular HD, 4K or extreme-speed acquisition/replay. Combining these 2 cameras, positions can now become extreme-speed or 4K positions with the ability from any shot, from any angle during any type of production.

Hitachi Data Systems
Broadcast camera specialists; Hitachi will be well worth checking out at this years IBC, with the showcasing of the award winning UHD camera system SK-UHD4000 along with the brand new 7.4 OLED viewfinder HDF-800ELH. A little advantage of visiting the Hitachi booth is their innovative wireless state of the art solution with a Wireless Return Channel.

Evertz
The audio and video manufacturer will be showing off their new audio and video processor at the IBC this year! Focusing on the leading SDVN (Software Defined Video Networking solution, Evertz is striding ahead as a leader in the IP industry. The MVIP-II is the newest IP based multi viewer which offers audio and video monitoring from IP streams, featuring like loudness monitoring. The MViP-II can decode up to 64xMPEG/H.264 SD, 32xMPEG/H.264 and 16xH.264 HD in a single 2RU chassis. It supports most major video compression systems as well as streaming output.

EditShare
Originally created to give a more flexible, affordable solution for media sharing, EditShare is an innovative way to improve efficiency and workflow. This year they showcase at the IBC with their XStream EFS which is the most recent addition to the EditShare range. XStream EFS offers quality performance and resiliency for real-time workflows. A fantastic way to give large groups of media based groups an open storage platform involving project sharing, extreme fast performance and multiple levels of redundancy. The little sister Xstream ST is also one of the latest shared storage solutions, which is aimed at meeting the needs of smaller production facilities with its more pocket friendly package. With MAM within XStream ST, it allows its clients to focus more on creativity rather than technology.

Panasonic
Always one to watch out for, Panasonic proves to be looking like another tasty attraction to visit at this years IBC. With 2 new studio cameras to showcase, starting with the 4K studio camera (AK-UC3000) along with the original model (AK-HC5000). Both products will be boasting high quality image output, with the friendly user interface. The AK-UB300 which has been deemed as ideal for outdoor sports broadcasting and remote studio conditions will also be demonstrated. There are plenty more goodies to witness at Panasonics stand, and its no doubt it will be full within the hour the show opens!

NewTek
Showcasing the full range of TriCaster multi video camera solutions. The latest TriCaster Advanced Edition will be a main attraction for those visiting the NewTek booth. With many features including automated graphics creation based on data fields and plenty more, its no doubt the NewTek stand will be buzzing with keen admirers. Other models on show will be the TriCaster 8000 and there will be a feature of the 3Play 4800, which has been stated as the most complete, integrated sports production solution for broadcasters. Features include slow motion, instant replay and multi angle preview. NewTek will be presenting why its professional video production tools are the most complete in the world, sought after by media companies wanting cost-effective ways to produce high quality content.

IBC Drone Zone
We all love a good drone, and with the amazing sights we saw at this years NAB Show in Las Vegas, its no wonder that IBC will be pushing the boundaries to compete! It looks like they are doing just that with their Drone Zone at this years IBC with the Very Large Flying Cage that can be accessed by exhibitors to showcase their products. IBC states affordable and easily controlled miniature flying machines and the new breed of small camera have come together in a new creative tool capable of delivering a stunning new viewpoint of the highest quality in video technology.
