Audio Analyzer

PrismSound dScope Series III

The Prism Sound dScope Series III audio analyzer is an industrial strength audio test and measurement system comprising a Windows PC software application coupled with an external high-precision audio interface processor for equipment-under-test (EUT) connections.

The dScope Series III architecture makes the most of the ever-increasing processing and multi-tasking capabilities of the Windows platform to allow the system to measure many parameters simultaneously - and that means faster. The external interface processor connects to the PC via a standard USB connection making it easy to use with a wide range of PCs, including laptops.

The external interface processor includes precision analogue and digital outputs and inputs that are highly optimized for measurement applications. Precise and automatic gain ranging allows high resolution measurements over a phenomenal range from a few micro-volts to more than 150 volts RMS, and from less than 1 Hz to over 90kHz.

The dScope Series III interface processor uses dedicated DSP to provide a wide range of real time measurements, and the software uses the host PC for almost unlimited number crunching and analysis options such as Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT), power spectrum analysis, swept sine and multi-tone testing.

The dScope interface processor also provides controlled degradation and analysis of AES3 and S/PDIF digital audio carriers. The software also allows the dScope to use installed Windows sound devices such as sound cards or Bluetooth audio headsets as generator outputs or analyzer sources.

dScope Series III is highly programmable - great for production test automation and for specialized custom audio analysis. It can also be automated from a wide range of third party software using ActiveX controls - almost anything you can do with dScope can be automated and controlled remotely.

In addition, the rich feature set of dScope Series III means that it can do the job of many traditional instruments which in turn means cost savings, especially when it is time for re-calibration !

-----

dScope Series III Audio Analyzer, digital and analogue, windows soundcards, full options version. Good condition with shielded USB cable, power cable, mil grade BNC-RCA adapters, dScope Series III software and user manual. NB. Ignore flash related circular reflections. Current retail £8220 inc VAT.

21st Century Technology for 20th Century Content
James Hall A big challenge facing owners of legacy content is rationalising and archiving their tape and film-based media in cost effective and efficient ways, whilst also adding value. Normally the result of this is to find a low cost means of digitising the content – usually leaving them with a bunch of assets on HDD. But then what? How can content owners have their cake and eat it?

State of the Nation - January 2019
Dick Hobbs - new I’m writing these thoughts on the morning of 20 December. From my desk in Tunbridge Wells I am normally gently aware of air traffic at five thousand feet, lining up to land at Gatwick Airport. Today it is silent: since 9.00 last night some idiot has been flying drones across the runway.

An Obituary to Timecode
Bruce Devlin - new A stoic and persistent character that stubbornly refused to change with the times, Timecode has finally passed on, but no-one has noticed. A long-lasting industry veteran, Timecode was brought into this world at an uncertain date in the late 1960s due to the needs of analogue tape workflows and the demand for synchronisation between audio and video devices. A joint activity between SMPTE and the EBU led to the work on Time and Control codes starting its journey to standardisation in the early 1970s.
