FOR-A Video Switcher Helps SeaCoast Grace Church and nbsp;Expand Streaming Content During COVID-19 Restrictions

SeaCoast Grace Church in Cypress used to produce live streaming coverage of its three weekend services with its HVS-490 HANABI video switcher from FOR-A Corporation of America. With COVID-19 restrictions in place, however, it now produces coverage of one weekend service, and has added coverage of classes, meetings, and additional worship during the week for various groups within its community.

Currently, SeaCoast holds a Saturday night service in its empty auditorium. The service is streamed live, recorded on site and converted to an MP4 file, and replayed twice on Sunday morning. Services are streamed to YouTube, Facebook and the SeaCoast website. Before the COVID-19 shutdown, the church attracted about 400 viewers each week with its online services, but now has about 3,500 viewers each week.

Dejero Announces New European Channel Partnerships Posted: 05/08/2020
Dejero Announces New European Channel Partnerships

Dejero has brought onboard new European partners in Ireland, Hungary and Portugal, strengthening its market presence and local support offering. The company’s expanding network of regional channel partners will enable Dejero to provide its full range of solutions and services in support of the delivery of mission-critical live video and real-time data to European broadcast and media organizations, as well as other organizations that need reliable connectivity.

“As we continue to grow in the European market, we’re seeing increased demand for our connectivity solutions in a number of untapped geographical and vertical markets, as well as demand for on-the-ground support,” said Rob Waters, Dejero’s director of sales for EMEA. “These new partnerships bring in very local and experienced representation and prove our commitment to address the needs of our European customers.”

The most recent European sellers to add the full range of Dejero solutions to their portfolios include Pantalha in Portugal, Rexfilm in Hungary, Creative Technology (CT) in Ireland, and INA TV in Greece. All partners are equipped to offer flagship products such as the EnGo mobile transmitter, CuePoint return video server, GateWay network aggregation device, WayPoint receiver, PathWay encoder, FlexPoint transceiver; and mobile solutions such as the LivePlus mobile app, which was invaluable to so many broadcasters during the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

These new partners join Dejero’s active existing network, including AV-Professional in Austria, DTS Data Transmission Systems in Poland, Nexting in Italy, Ontario Soluciones in Spain, SHBP in Russia, Tevios in Belgium, and CS Computer Systems in Croatia.

“Dejero is all about providing reliable connectivity anywhere, a challenge that our customers often face — especially when operating in a location where bandwidth may be limited,” said Bonifácio Ribeiro, General Manager at Pantalha. “If you take the EnGo mobile transmitter, for example, Dejero has made it easy to swap out the SIM modules when camera operators or crews move from region to region or country to country, to use local mobile networks for the best performance. They work closely with us and our customers to understand what we need from a local perspective.”

The backbone to Dejero’s solutions is its patented Smart Blending Technology which simultaneously aggregates diverse wired and wireless IP connections from multiple sources to form a virtual ‘network of networks’, enhancing the reliability of connection paths, expanding coverage and delivering greater bandwidth.

The combination of Dejero’s Smart Blending Technology and Hybrid Encoding Technology forms a tightly integrated system which maximizes video quality by responding in real time to changes in network characteristics and video content. These technologies are ideal for low-latency, live video contribution scenarios, which allow broadcast and media teams across the world to deliver high-quality video even in the most challenging bandwidth-constrained scenarios.

Waters indicated that Dejero’s unique Complexity Analyser, just one of the Hybrid Encoding Technology features found in the EnGo, will prove to be popular with its European customers: “The algorithm detects and adjusts the encoding process, based on the amount of motion in a live shot, much faster than a person can in terms of identifying and then changing settings — plus it truly improves picture sharpness in challenging network conditions,” he explains. “Camera operators can seamlessly and automatically transition from a relatively still talking-head shot to a higher-motion action shot and achieve the best possible picture quality for the available bandwidth.”

Dejero’s new partners will also have access to Dejero’s latest product innovations, including the WayPoint 50 and CuePoint 50. These new small form factor products, a receiver and a return video/teleprompter server, are ideal for portable scenarios including quick response in a disaster recovery situation to keep a station on-air during flooding, severe storms, or evacuations demanded by a pandemic such as the COVID-19 crisis. Through its European partners, Dejero provides assistance in customizing the kits for the specific needs of customers.

The Business Case for Hybrid TV and AI
Oliver Botti Video on demand (VOD) and OTT live services have come a long way since their introduction and, rather than solely competing with traditional broadcasting, they are becoming more important than ever in helping to keep broadcast TV networks popular, in particular when combining TV broadcasting with online TV into Hybrid TV models, thanks to convergence standards such as HbbTV and Atsc3.0. In the UK, the average weekly OTT viewing minutes shot up from 60 in July 2015 to 152 in September 2018. Meanwhile, OTT TV and video revenues are expected to reach $6.8 billion by 2023 in the UK and $61 billion in the US.

CLASS Is Remote Cloud Working the New Norm
Bruce Devlin - new The Tuk-tuk driver has just dropped us off at the hotel in Jaipur. The guard has let us through the gates, past the dogs and the obligatory cow rummaging in the garbage. The Importance of Audio Production Systems
Tom Knowles Large-scale entertainment programming presents a unique set of challenges for broadcasters. Often extremely high-profile keystones of a broadcaster’s schedule and increasingly billed as live ‘event television’, as well as delivering the very best audio quality they demand a huge degree of flexibility and agility in terms of their production. With music being such a core component of their appeal to growing audiences, in both linear broadcast and online, nowhere is that more important than their audio production systems.

TVFutures My Dive in to Learning
Lucy Crow In 2014 I had my first taste of underwater diving. I was on a family holiday and I happened across the experience of a lifetime. Within the first few minutes of that adventure I had decided that I wanted to be part of the diving world going forward. After countless dives and extensive training to become a scuba diving instructor, I made the decision to attend university. I knew that whatever I was going to study, I wanted it to involve my passion for Scuba.

Why Routing Control
Mark Davies Routing control sits at the very heart of all advanced control systems. A well-configured system that manages signal routes throughout a facility and groups multi-level actions into a single control surface allows for much richer and focused production. Using one-touch panels, operators could route video, audio and data signals between the various elements of a network, perhaps to route a camera signal to a vision mixer, as well as through other processors, before it arrives at its destination. Users could adopt routing control to trigger an external event, a complete reconfiguration of a multi-router setup, route several sources simultaneously, or make set routes or multiple routes via a single button press.
