Intinor to Demonstrate How to Do Remote Production in Live Webinars With Skaarhoj Posted: 21/05/2020
Intinor to Demonstrate How to Do Remote Production in Live Webinars With Skaarhoj

Intinor Technology, Sweden’s leading developer of products and solutions for high quality video over the internet, will be demonstrating how to do remote production in a series of live webinars with Danish company Skaarhoj, manufacturers of universal broadcast control panels. The aim is to showcase how the remote production tools from both Intinor and Skaarhoj complement each other to give a flexible, secure workflow for live production using a variety of different content sources and locations.

Interest in remote production workflows (or REMI) has been on the increase for some time now already. Even before the current global social distancing requirements created an added incentive for broadcasting companies to seek an alternative to the traditional travel-dependent methods of production, the economic and productivity benefits that REMI offers enables companies to more easily meet the rising demand for live content.

ProBalances New Stay Home PSA Shot and Graded With Blackmagic Design Cameras and DaVinci Resolve Posted: 18/05/2020
ProBalances New Stay Home PSA Shot and Graded With Blackmagic Design Cameras and DaVinci Resolve

Blackmagic Design today announced the new ProBalance PSA “Stay Home” was shot by Clio Award winning director Kiran Koshy using a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Koshy shot the PSA in his own backyard using his family dog Nigel and young daughter as talent, and worked with nearby colorist Charles Gerstner using DaVinci Resolve to grade the final spot.

Based in Long Beach, CA. and former agency creative director, now commercial director, Koshy had worked with a number of Asian brands in the past. Malaysian pet food brand ProBalance approached Koshy through his production company in Kuala Lumpur, Directors Think Tank, in mid-March to shoot the PSA even though they knew he would be unable to shoot outside of his home.

Working with creative agency Imaginary Friends and Directors Think Tank, “Stay Home” focuses on a patient dog teaching the importance of staying at home and practicing social distancing. The spot shows the dog in a Western style standoff with his human companion, who he teaches to sit and stay safe.

Ikegami UHK-430 and HDK-99 Cameras Chosen for New 4K OB Vehicle Posted: 05/05/2020
Ikegami UHK-430 and HDK-99 Cameras Chosen for New 4K OB Vehicle

Ikegami UHK-430 and HDK-99 cameras have been chosen for a recently completed 4K OB vehicle, designed and built by Milan-based broadcast system integrator Aret Video & Audio Engineering. The vehicle was commissioned in time to cover the Qatar National Day festivities celebrating the country's foundation in 1878.

"The Ikegami cameras were selected both for their high signal quality and for the proven excellence of Ikegami post-sale support," comments Aret's Vice President Alessandro Asti. "Eight UHK-430 models have been purchased plus two docking-style HDK-99. All 10 cameras can be tripod or pedestal mounted to achieve steady long-zoom closeup capture of fast-moving action while retaining the freedom to operate in free-style over-the-shoulder mode. The HDK-99 can be configured to feed directly from the camera control unit into any 4K periphery."

Ikegami’s Middle East office, located in Dubai, assisted in the customer’s decision-making by providing consultation support and product demonstrations.

Ikegami observers were present to offer assistance over multiple days during the ongoing festivities," adds Asim Saeed, Business Development Manager – Ikegami Middle East. All the equipment worked perfectly and the production went flawlessly.

Marshall Introduces Next Generation CV226 Full-HD Lipstick Camera Posted: 21/04/2020
Marshall Introduces Next Generation CV226 Full-HD Lipstick Camera

Building on the success of its CV225 Lipstick Camera, Marshall Electronics releases its next-generation CV226 HD Lipstick Camera with new sensor technology improving color, clarity, and low-light, and a new ultra-flexible 3GSDI cable. The CV226 is ideal for capturing discreet, all-weather video in professional broadcast television applications including broadcast trucks, weather vehicles, reality television, sports, racing, and house of worship.

“The CV226 is the fifth camera released as part of our next generation HD camera line,” says Tod Musgrave, director of cameras at Marshall. “The upgraded CV226 utilizes the same upgraded sensor as our new CV503 and CV506 models, but only the CV226 boards are designed to fit into an all-weather miniature lipstick-style body. We have seen our lipstick cameras used in a range of exciting projects and can’t wait for those same engineers to plug in our new models.”

The upgraded line, which also includes the CV503, CV506, CV344, and CV346, greatly improves upon nearly every feature that has made Marshall Electronics’ POV cameras so widely adopted in broadcast and professional AV applications. Marshall collaborated directly with broadcast integrators to develop these new cameras, representing the next evolution in its HD camera solutions.

AVer Europe upgrades new PTZ cameras with NDI Pro AV technology to simplify livestreaming process Posted: 15/04/2020
AVer Europe upgrades new PTZ cameras with NDI Pro AV technology to simplify livestreaming process

AVer Europe has today announced the integration of its pan-tilt-zoom cameras with world leading video standard NDI® capability to deliver enhanced Pro AV opportunities to the UK market.

The new PTZ310N and PTZ330N models feature NewTek’s NDI® video standard integration that enables the cameras to communicate, deliver and receive high quality content with low latency, which is also frame-accurate and suitable for switching in a live production environment.

The NDI® standard enables seamless interaction between various control systems and AVer Europe’s camera hardware for capturing and livestreaming. Users can create robust IP workflows throughout all components of their production setup via one cable rather than having to wire every video or audio source directly into an SDI router, saving significant time and money through increased efficiency.

This new functionality combined with the powerful zoom, smooth movement and high-quality imaging offered by AVer Europe’s PTZ cameras, enables higher education institutions to capture classroom lectures and broadcast events such as Ted Talks or graduation ceremonies. The cameras also facilitate coverage of major awards, press conferences and tradeshows in business.

“This upgrade for the PTZ310N and PTZ330N enables users to access a new range of event capturing and livestreaming capabilities within both education and business,” explains Rene Buhay, AVer Europe Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “By integrating NDI HX2 with our existing advanced features in our PTZ range, we are improving Pro AV processes for content producers globally.”

BLACKMAGIC DESIGN ANNOUNCES BLACKMAGIC CAMERA UPDATE 6.9 Posted: 06/04/2020
BLACKMAGIC DESIGN ANNOUNCES BLACKMAGIC CAMERA UPDATE and nbsp;6.9

Blackmagic Design today announced new software update for its popular Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K models that include powerful studio camera features. Now customers can connect to an ATEM Mini switcher and get control of the camera parameters, lens and tally light. ATEM Mini can control up to 4 cameras via the HDMI video connection and ensure all cameras are perfectly matched for a professional live studio workflow. Now the same Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera can work as a digital film camera and a studio camera!

Blackmagic Camera Update 6.9 is available for download now from the Blackmagic Design web site.

Video and control is via the HDMI connection, which is available as soon as customers plug the cameras in. The record light becomes a tally light so customers can see which camera is on air. The ATEM Software Control camera page has a camera control unit (CCU) style interface for adjusting and matching their cameras. Move the CCU control vertically for iris and left to right to adjust black level. It's the same as a broadcast CCU. There are also controls for color tint to balance the camera as well as focus, gain and shutter speed. Customers can even ISO record Blackmagic RAW in the camera for editing later.

The elegant design of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera packs an incredible number of high end digital film features into a miniaturized, handheld design. Made from lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite, the camera features a multifunction handgrip with all controls for recording, ISO, WB and shutter angle right at their fingertips. Because it's an advanced digital film camera, the sensor is designed to reduce thermal noise allowing cleaner shadows and higher ISO. Plus the large 5 inch LCD makes it possible to get perfect focus at 4K and 6K resolutions.

Why Routing Control
Mark Davies Routing control sits at the very heart of all advanced control systems. A well-configured system that manages signal routes throughout a facility and groups multi-level actions into a single control surface allows for much richer and focused production. Using one-touch panels, operators could route video, audio and data signals between the various elements of a network, perhaps to route a camera signal to a vision mixer, as well as through other processors, before it arrives at its destination. Users could adopt routing control to trigger an external event, a complete reconfiguration of a multi-router setup, route several sources simultaneously, or make set routes or multiple routes via a single button press.

The Importance of Audio Production Systems
Tom Knowles Large-scale entertainment programming presents a unique set of challenges for broadcasters. Often extremely high-profile keystones of a broadcaster’s schedule and increasingly billed as live ‘event television’, as well as delivering the very best audio quality they demand a huge degree of flexibility and agility in terms of their production. With music being such a core component of their appeal to growing audiences, in both linear broadcast and online, nowhere is that more important than their audio production systems.

Accurate Ad Tracking with OTT
Tim Armstrong As viewers embrace and transition to OTT, the opportunities and flexibility provided to advertisers are growing fast. However, like all technology shifts, this transition hasn’t come without challenges. Some technology used to monetise video over the years has resulted in a less-than-ideal viewing experience, with disruptive transitions and buffering two of the main issues. The good news is that advances in ad insertion technology mean content providers can now deliver a seamless OTT viewing experience, as well as addressable advertising options. This paves the way for the delivery of high-quality ad viewing while growing the advertiser's ROI.

The Business Case for Hybrid TV and AI
Oliver Botti Video on demand (VOD) and OTT live services have come a long way since their introduction and, rather than solely competing with traditional broadcasting, they are becoming more important than ever in helping to keep broadcast TV networks popular, in particular when combining TV broadcasting with online TV into Hybrid TV models, thanks to convergence standards such as HbbTV and Atsc3.0. In the UK, the average weekly OTT viewing minutes shot up from 60 in July 2015 to 152 in September 2018. Meanwhile, OTT TV and video revenues are expected to reach $6.8 billion by 2023 in the UK and $61 billion in the US.
