DVB to Make the Case for Standards-Based OTT at 2019 NAB Show

At the 2019 NAB Show, DVB, an industry consortium that develops open interoperable technical specifications for the delivery of digital media, will demonstrate how it is enabling an open standards-based approach to OTT and broadband television, as well as Low Latency DASH (LL-DASH) and Multicast Adaptive Bit Rate (mABR) for video streaming applications. This marks the first time DVB has exhibited at the NAB Show since 2010. |

Sony VENICE used to capture latest Keira Knightley feature, Official Secrets

Sony’s next-generation motion picture camera system, VENICE ,has been used for principal photography on a new political thriller ‘Official Secrets’, directed by Gavin Hood, and produced by Ged Doherty, Elizabeth Fowler, and Melissa Zuo. Entertainment One (eOne) produced and financed the film, with Screen Yorkshire and Zuo’s company GS Media. Boasting an impressive cast including Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes and Matt Smith, and captured by cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister BSC, the feature made its debut at Sundance Film Festival. It is scheduled for distribution later in 2019 through eOne across its territories. Sierra/Affinity represents all other international territories outside the US. |

Sony will be upgrading the capabilities of its next-generation motion picture camera system, VENICE, by introducing High Frame Rate (HFR) shooting, advanced remote-control functionalities and Cooke/i3 and Zeiss extended metadata support, as part of its latest firmware update. Following the recent release of VENICE’s firmware Version 3.0 and the upcoming launch of its Extension System (CBK-3610XS), which was developed in collaboration with James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and is currently being used to shoot the AVATAR sequels, the latest upgrade will offer filmmakers even greater creative freedom, flexibility and choice. |

Romanian broadcaster PRO TV, part of CME media and entertainment network, is the first European customer for Sony’s new HDC-3500 live production camera. PRO TV has invested in eight HDC-3500 camera chains that will be used for live entertainment and sports productions, working with HDCU-3100, the IP enabled Camera Control Unit. They also have chosen the PXW-Z280 and PXW-Z150 camcorders for their mainstream and local studio productions, alongside Sony’s dual channel UWP wireless microphone packages. |
