AVT Masterclass and OOONA join forces to help media localization industry overcome the talent crunch

AVT Masterclass launches on October 15th with OOONA as the cloud tool of choice for the online subtitling and captioning courses it offers.

“This new initiative will help tackle the resource issue the industry is experiencing,” comments Prof. Agnieszka Szarkowska, co-founder of AVT Masterclass and head of the AVT Lab at the University of Warsaw. “Over the past decade, I have seen hundreds of university graduates, passionate about translating film and eager to enter the labor market, looking for further training and professional opportunities in the field. At AVT Masterclass we harness the power of modern online educational tools to make engaging educational content available 24/7 across the globe.

“OOONA is the best publicly available cloud subtitling platform," says ukasz Dutka, AVT Masterclass co-founder and director of Global Alliance of Speech-to-Text Captioning. "This cooperation will allow us to train localization specialists using the best cloud tools in the market.”

OOONA Launches Mobile App Offering a Fully Remote Experience to Global User Base

OOONA has launched a mobile app for iOS and Android, allowing translators and project managers to manage their work fully remotely via a simple and intuitive new addition to its OOONA Integrated platform.

The OOONA app is accessible via OOONA Integrated user accounts. It addresses the need to manage urgent and live work scheduling. Managers can easily view orders and tasks, assign and reassign work. It also allows for urgent jobs to pop up on translators’ mobiles when the relevant feature is enabled so that resources can be assigned promptly.

“Even before COVID, our global workforce needed the ability to respond quickly to new and existing clients with new and changing project demands and deadlines," says Tony Cleveland, Chief Technology Officer for Captionmax. "Partnering with OOONA to develop this app has helped us bring a solution to fruition."

New Multi-Channel AES3 to Dante Bi-Directional Converters Posted: 23/08/2021
New Multi-Channel AES3 to Dante Bi-Directional Converters

The latest additions to the Sonifex AVN-AIO product range are the AVN-AESIO8 & AVN-AESIO8R: 8 x AES3 Input, 8 x AES3 Output Dante® Interfaces. These convert up to eight digital stereo AES3 inputs and eight digital stereo AES3 outputs to and from the Dante AoIP networking standard.

Each input can accept sample rates from 32kHz to 192kHz, which will be sample rate converted to the Dante system sample rate. A valid input signal is confirmed by front panel AES3 lock LEDs, one for each input, and the outputs follow the Dante system sample rate. All digital AES3 inputs and outputs are on high-quality Neutrik® XLR connectors and there are front panel status/confidence LEDs for PoE, Link and Clock.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.

ERA IaaS at University of Salford
KitPlus The University of Salford (UoS) is widely recognised in both academic and professional circles as a leading educational establishment in acoustics and media production. In 2011 the University moved its television and radio courses from its main campus just outside Salford city centre into the Orange Tower on the main piazza of MediaCityUK (MCUK).

This purpose-built hub for broadcasters, facility houses and production companies was created when redevelopment of the old Salford Quays docks area began in 2007. UoS was among the first institutions to consider moving to MCUK, along with the BBC, which had already committed to transfer many of its departments from London.
